The First Expression

Welcome to Paragraph: A Modern Coffee Commentary

Being the first expression of our thoughts and words, we would like to address an all encompassing theme we have observed within the 21st century coffee industry. This will hopefully work to establish a context inclusive of all subsequent articles we choose to share,  regardless of the topic of writing or chapter of our advancement.

Essentially: in a culture deeply rooted in scientific process, the societal implications of coffee are of greater significance.

Simply, we have often found ourselves bypassing the relational aspect of this industry and focusing on exclusively on perfection, the anyways unattainable.  Being very detail centred personalities, as is common within our international collection of coffee enthusiasts, the possibilities within the pursuit of knowledge are simply endless.  With every avid study of a subtopic, there are ten more branching out from it, and so on.  Therefore it is almost effortless to get lost in the mindset of obsession, and focusing on the outcome of that obsession as vindication to stay in that mentality.  Coffee, like any other commodity, has an obligation to focus on more than intrinsic quality, on the grounds that* without a community to build around it would be purely matter.

However, in no way is this constant desire for scientific progress within coffee a negative aspect.  It is completely necessary for a culture which values quality as highly as we do.  Nonetheless, even within this progress, external input is needed for full development. We are not perfectly evenhanded, and what we may occasionally take as fact, someone with superior knowledge or background may interpret as pure bias.  Our self-developed ideas can only be thought of as credible, not absolute.  Therefore it is not adequate to entirely rely on our own processing to determine fact, giving relationship an additional form of  to our personal aspirations.

We are simply of the purpose to take from our own experiences for material to share with the society of coffee, specifically our experiences based in North American culture. Within this purpose we wish to encourage discussion and focus on the eclectic assembly of similar-minded personalities, from the mildly interested to well-experienced.
This will be the context in which we wish our words to be read. Our appreciation is given to those who choose to read, and continue to develop with us.
